The Chamber of Faro it offered 350 Christmas baskets to needy families in the municipality.

This initiative, which is already a tradition of the municipality, "represents a contribution to help provide a more dignified Christmas season for citizens with more social and financial vulnerabilities", says the Chamber of Faro.

"The baskets, composed of various food items, were allocated to Faro households, with proven economic needs, which have been identified and have been monitored over the last year by the services of the Municipality," he adds.

Part of the citizens collected their baskets in the services of the Municipality's Social Intervention and Participatory Policies Division, and others, namely elderly people with more disabilities, received theirs at their homes or through entities that helped the municipality in this task: GNR, Provectus, Associação of Retired and Pensioners of Faro (ARPI), Casa do Povo of Estoi and Parish Council of Montenegro.

«We hope that these baskets are a way to alleviate some of the needs that many families from Faro unfortunately face, even more so in this very difficult year in everyone's lives, but above all to point out that the Municipality is side by side with its residents , especially those who go through situations of greater difficulty», pointed out Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro.
