Castro Marim: Requalification of the Casa do Sal surroundings advances

According to the Chamber of Castro Marim, "this is one of the most awaited urban interventions in the town of Castro Marim"

The redevelopment of the surroundings of Casa do Sal will proceed, after the consignment of the work was signed this Friday, December 11th. 

This project, financed by the CRESC Algarve2020 program, represents a total investment of around 900 thousand euros, and should proceed within a few days.

According to the Chamber of Castro Marim, «this is one of the most awaited urban interventions in the town of Castro Marim, which involves the redevelopment and enhancement of this public space, an area where monthly markets are held and an area of ​​access to Casa do Sal and the center of the village'.

«With an aesthetic and harmonizing concern for this new central area of ​​Castro Marim, the project also aims to enhance the smooth modes of mobility, contemplating various pedestrian zones and an area of ​​gardens that prioritized the current environmental concern», he adds. .

«The traditional materials and techniques of the region will predominate, such as traditional plastering, regional tiles or limestone masonry», says the municipality.

“We regret that the municipality has been at risk of losing this pre-approved candidacy in 2017, due to the difficulties generated by the majority of the opposition. Even so, the work that is now being presented had to supply an important component of the initial project, as it is more expensive today, circumstances of the market», considers the vice-president Filomena Sintra.

«It is a decisive investment that is included in the process of regeneration of the village of Castro Marim, which also led to the creation of an ARU (Urban Rehabilitation Area), with tax benefits for individuals», he concludes.
