The Solidarity Account created in Lagos to help fight Covid-19 will also serve to provide food aid to those in a more fragile situation.
The City Council and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagos recently decided to expand the scope of an account they created together in April, «destined to gather donations from companies, individuals and institutions, which have been keen to contribute to the fight against Covid. 19'.
The money raised «allowed the acquisition of protective equipment for all those who are in the first line of providing support to populations, establishments and professionals, including hospitals in the region, Health Centre, security forces, IPSS, Red Cross and Firefighters in the municipality» .
"Now, and given the monitoring of the situation, the two entities have decided to sign an addendum to the agreement, which allows for the expansion of the scope of these funds, including the provision of food baskets to households in vulnerable situations and who are accompanied by the competent services of the municipality», revealed the City of Lagos.
In this way, the municipality will reinforce the food aid it already provides, with its own financial resources, to beneficiaries of social support.
The two partner entities in this initiative «underline and recognize the importance of the involvement of civil society in this cause that belongs to everyone, as well as the spirit of solidarity inherent in these donations, as, in addition to translating into effective support for professionals who are more exposed to the risk of the pandemic and to the families that may be going through difficulties, they also end up being messages of encouragement».
Individuals or companies wishing to make financial donations must do so through a transfer to the bank account opened by SCM lacobrigense, under the social patronage, with IBAN – PT50.0018.000352100955020.59 (Banco Santander Totta).
«To issue the receipt for the donation, proof of transfer must be sent to the e-mails [email protected] or [email protected]», added the Câmara de Lagos.
