camera of Faro gives 16 scholarships to high school and university students

This support will be given in monthly installments

The Chamber of Faro decided, at the December 16 meeting, to give 16 scholarships to needy students who need this help. 

With this grant, the municipality grants, therefore, secondary and higher education students who do not have their own means to continue their studies.

This support will be given in monthly installments (total of 10), corresponding to 2/5 of the national minimum wage (254 euros).

In accordance with the basic evaluation criteria - lower per capita household income, greater number of student siblings and better school performance - scholarships were awarded, in secondary education, to two 10th grade students, four 11th grade students year and two 12th grade students.

In higher education, two 1st year students, two 2nd year students, three 3rd year students and one 2nd year master's student will receive scholarships.

The grants from the municipality are intended for students who attend secondary or higher education and who must meet the following requirements: reside in the municipality of Faro more than five years ago; have achieved school performance in the year immediately preceding that of the present scholarship application, which cannot be lower than level 4 for 9th grade students and an average of 13 for secondary and higher education students, belong to a household that does not have a monthly per capita income higher than the national minimum wage in force at the beginning of the calendar year to which the application refers, do not benefit from any scholarship or equivalent subsidy, granted by any institution for the same academic year.

Scholarships are awarded in a number of not more than 16, to Portuguese students residing in the municipality of Faro, and a maximum of two, for students from Portuguese-speaking countries or cities, twinned with the city of Faro.
