Quinta do Lago Tennis Academy celebrates “a year of success”

Quinta do Lago Tennis Academy, part of The Campus, had a «year of successes», earning several awards in various categories. 

This academy was «created specially to train young tennis players from 4 to 18 years old who want to develop skills and rise to the next level in the sport».

Over the last season, the Tennis Academy has collected several awards in the various categories. In the sub12, the first participation in the Regional Team Championship, the second place in male pairs in the Individual Regional Championship, by Afonso Delfino and Tomás Aguiar, and the semi-final of the female singles in the same championship, by Maia Cordeiro.

In the under-14 category, the highlights were the victories of Duarte Trocado, who became regional champion of the men's singles, regional vice-champion of the men's doubles and reached the semi-finals of the National Championship of the men's singles.

With regard to the under16s, Rita Trocado was runner-up Regional and National in singles and female pairs, as well as mixed pairs with Daniel Ivanov. Ivanov received, with Andre Stewart, the award of Regional Vice-Champion of male pairs and to finish, the academy also took 1st place in the Regional Team Championship.

In the under18s, the spotlight is once again on Trocado and Ivanov, as regional runner-up for singles and female pairs and national runner for female singles, and regional runner-up for male singles, respectively.

With regard to seniors, Rita Trocado also wins the regional singles and mixed doubles champion title with Ivanov, also holder of the regional Male Pairs champion. Another highlight was the maintenance of the second Senior Men's Division and the Regional Vice-Champions of the Second Senior Women's Division of the Quinta do Lago team. In veterans, Isabel Pinto is crowned National Champion Singles and Female Pairs +55 and national vice-champion of Mixed Pairs.

As for international competitions, four team members made their debut in external competitions: Duarte Trocado, Freddie Healey, Kit Henderson, Rita Trocado and Martim Gonçalves. Ivo Isqueiro was crowned finalist in two U-16 international tournaments.
