Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries recalls "important contribution" on National Maritime Day

The National Day of the Sea was marked this Monday, 16 November, and the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve recalls the "important contribution" it has made, as an intermediate management body for the operational program Mar2020. 

Since the beginning of the program, 543 projects have already been approved, resulting in a total investment of 71.217.196 euros in the region.

The Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries highlights the «dynamism displayed by the entrepreneurs, namely in the areas of “Sustainable Development of Aquaculture” and “Transformation and Marketing of Fishery and Aquaculture Products”, which translates into investments of 29.189.485 euros and 17.424.078 euros .XNUMX euros, respectively, being the measures with the greatest economic impact in the Algarve».

The National Day of the Sea is celebrated on 16 November due to the fact that the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea entered into force on 16 November 1994 and was ratified by Portugal in 1997.
