CCDR Algarve promotes reflection on ecological public procurement

Initiative will take place on the Microsof Teams platform

A webinar on “Ecological Public Procurement” is scheduled for November 17, between 10 am and 12 noon, in an initiative of the Algarve Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve), within the scope of the Regional Agenda for the Transition to the Circular Economy ( AREC).

This initiative is aimed at decision makers and municipal technicians and aims to disseminate legal provisions on ecological purchases and good practices among municipal technicians, promote closer ties between the various agents, availability to support Projects and Working Groups.

The General Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance and the IMPIC-Institute of Public Markets, Real Estate and Construction are invited to the session.

In addition to this session, which will take place on the Microsof Teams platform, there are others scheduled for the 20th, 25th and 26th of November and 3rd of December.

AREC is «a dynamic document that is based on the understanding of the circularity potential of the economies of the Algarve region, framing the physical flows in the economic and social framework, thus allowing a perspective of a socio-economic development scenario».

In this context, after AREC's presentation at the end of 2019, CCDR Algarve has been developing projects and events, having scheduled a series of information sessions to be held during the months of November and December, also marking the European Week for Waste Prevention, which runs from the 21st to the 29th of the current month.

It is intended to advance in the definition of integrated Circular Economy (CE) strategies of regional and local scope, stimulating the connection between public bodies, as well as between the administration and citizens, scheduling short, informal and objective sessions during the which are intended to promote the sharing of knowledge and pose challenges for all stakeholders.

Seeking to cover the lines of action demarcated in AREC, this cycle of informative sessions will focus on the integration of Circular Economy principles and concepts in the management activities of the decentralized national, regional and local public administration, in the promotion of the circular public procurement policy , in promoting the definition of a Regional Education Program for the Circular Economy, in the management and implementation of good practices in the management of Construction and Demolition Waste (RCD), in the carrying out of training and awareness actions aimed at specific professional groups, to diagnose the current situation and propose measures of local, regional and sectoral intervention.

The sessions will have as a target audience, among others, teachers, technicians and municipal leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals in the area of ​​agriculture, civil construction and waste management, but will be open to all citizens and professionals interested in environmental issues and circular economy and entries can be made HERE, and a link will be sent later to those registered.

For all sessions, experts and entities with representation in the environmental and circular economy sectors were invited, who will share information on good practices, innovation and technology. This range of entities includes Public Institutes, Central and Regional Administration Bodies, Companies in the environmental sector, Collaborative Platforms, Professional and Business Associations.
