Mayor visited five works

VIEW on the spot the progress of five works that are in progress and that, between them, will cost around 2 million euros, was the objective of a visit that Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa, made this Wednesday to different points of the Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro.

The mayor of Lagos visited the interventions being carried out at the EB1 Jacinto Correia school, in Bairro Zeca Afonso, on the straight from Vale de Deus to the Slide&Splash roundabout, at Praia da Marinha and in Vale de Centeanes.

At Jacinto Correia school, the work to change and expand the cafeteria will cost around 800 euros and includes the creation of “a dining room with approximately 400 square meters, which will allow the simultaneous service of all necessary meals, with a capacity for more than 500 seats and with better operating and working conditions», according to the Câmara de Lagoa.

Not far away, an intervention is underway to refurbish the surroundings of Bairro Zeca Afonso, which will cost 149 thousand euros and will guarantee «the reorganization of the public space, the restructuring of the road route, more parking, among various other elements that intend to provide the area surrounding the Neighborhood with better conditions for those who live or circulate there».

In the city of Lagoa, work is underway to create a new accessible route that connects the Vale de Deus straight to the Slide&Splash roundabout, a project worth 120 thousand euros that «will strengthen the connections between the city of Lagoa and the town of Estômbar, through the expansion of a path of about 750 meters, with a width that varies between meters and a half and two meters, paved with porous concrete, a water permeable material, which is one of the structuring axes of the future network of mobility paths ».

Work is also underway to refurbish the access to Praia da Marinha (432 thousand euros) and requalify the public space in Vale de Centeanes (396 euros).

At Praia da Marinha, the main objective of the intervention «is the preservation and safeguard of the environmental ecosystem through the reorganization of the parking lot and a sidewalk, parallel to the entire access road, but with an elevation higher than that of the road to protect safety of pedestrians'.

In Vale de Centeanes, the project takes place in the “Algarvesol” urbanization area and “aimed at improving basic sanitation, outdoor spaces and communication routes. The streets were repaved, new ecological islands were included, more parking spaces were created and traffic directions were revised”, added the municipality.
