André Garcia Pimenta shows pop-up books in Olhão

The exhibition will be open until December 19

The exhibition “Museu do Papel em Movimento”, by André Garcia Pimenta and featuring pop-up books, opens on November 21, at the José Mariano Gago Municipal Library, in Olhão.

«This show of pop-up books that we now have the opportunity to appreciate in Olhão, brings together copies from their origin, in the XNUMXth century, to contemporary times. The exhibition also shows the production process of a pop-up with printed sheets and the cutters used in its manufacture», says Câmara de Olhão.

As part of this exhibition, on the day of opening to the public, a pop-up workshop for adults is held, from 13:30 pm to 18:30 pm. This activity will refer to the history of mechanical books, from their origins to contemporaneity, with examples of books from different periods.

Participants will be challenged with the practical exploration of the main mechanisms present in the pop-ups, and will then be able to create their own model with the acquired knowledge or reproduce an existing one.

Pre-registration is mandatory and can be made via email [email protected] or by phone 289700130.
