The Algarvians have "10 days to save Christmas" and that "depends on everyone", highlighted today António Pina, president of the District Commission for Civil Protection, at the epidemiological update press conference in the Algarve.

António Pina defended that the celebration of Christmas “will depend on the behavior of the Algarve. We have 10 days to save Christmas. This is the moment that will define the Christmas season we will have».

For the president of the Intermunicipal Community of Algarve, compliance with the prevention measures of Covid-19 by the population, on the two long weekends in December, when travel between municipalities is prohibited, will be decisive.

"We have this challenge and saving Christmas depends on everyone," he stressed.

The organization of parties, in the homes of young university students, in the Gambelas area, in Faro, was one of the topics addressed at the press conference, although, according to the regional Health delegate, there is no knowledge of Covid-19 cases related to these gatherings.

António Pina also left a message to these young people “who are eager to meet: if they behave well, they might even have a good New Year's Eve”, he concluded.
