MED participates in international competitions dedicated to world music

On the 17th, MED was distinguished at the Iberian Festival Awards

The MED Festival, even in an atypical year of pandemic, did not leave aside the participation in international contests dedicated to the music of the world. 

From the 29th to the 31st of October, Setúbal is the stage for EXIB Música, in a special edition, as it is a virtual challenge to get around the restrictions imposed by Covid-19.

With the theme "The Tom of the Future", this event will feature s of Ibero-American artists, forums for the exchange of ideas, training actions and networking for professionals, all in digital format.

Paulo Silva, artistic director of the MED Festival, is one of the guests at the event and will be part of a discussion platform about the musical reality of Iberia and Latin America and sustainable musical cities.

Programmers from countries such as Argentina, United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Mexico, Finland, among others, participate in this initiative. In addition to the MED Festival, the Festival Bons Sons will also be representing our country, in the person of its programmer Miguel Atalaia.

EXIB is a strategic platform for the creation and development of culturally sustainable projects. It is an organization the product of ten years of experience in the development of cultural projects, which connect creators, promoters, organizations and cities.

Meanwhile, from 21 to 25 October, another edition of WOMEX took place, this year in a digital version. The MED Festival was once again present at what is the largest music fair in the world, bringing together the components of the event, conferences, films and s, at a meeting of more than 2500 industry professionals.

«We continue to invest in participating in these international platforms aimed above all at professionals in this music industry in the world, as we believe that it is through these networks of contacts and the exchange of experiences that we can further improve the artistic quality of this musical event, with each edition, reinforcing its presence in the itinerary of the European festivals of world music», says the mayor of Loulé Vítor Aleixo.

On the 17th, MED was distinguished at the Iberian Festival Awards, in the categories of Best Lusophone and Hispanic Festival of the Iberian Peninsula, and Best Tourism Promotion, in the context of Portuguese music festivals.
