Loulé creates Municipal Experimentation Laboratory for Public Administration

«The creation of the Municipal Experimentation Laboratory is an important instrument for internal training», says Vítor Aleixo

Loulé created a Municipal Experimentation Laboratory for Public Administration, with the aim of improving service to the citizen, reinforcing «transparency and proximity».

This is a partnership between the Municipality of Loulé and the Administrative Modernization Agency, namely through its team LabX – Experimentation Laboratory of Public Administration.

In this context, a municipal team is created that will be able to implement, for a year, two projects in key areas of the relationship with citizens: the service and integration of water supply and sanitation services.

For 12 months, LabX – Public Administration Experimentation Laboratory will carry out mentoring for the implementation of projects, allowing the municipal team to gain skills that can be replicated in other municipal areas, guaranteeing the Municipality a process of continuous improvement in the relationship with citizens.

The Municipality of Loulé, attentive to the needs of its citizens, intends to adopt innovative solutions for public services that make it possible to optimize the use of its own resources and, at the same time, respond to the requests of the citizens.

With the creation of LouléXLab, the Municipality of Loulé will test the proposed solutions in context, in order to monitor the performance of the results, but also to develop and demonstrate to the municipality's citizens and businesses that there is a commitment to an experimental approach to participatory nature.

LouléXLab's mission is to develop projects, through experimental and innovative processes, in order to promote the corporate and collaborative spirit in the institution to meet the needs and expectations of the citizen.

LabX is the Public Administration Experimentation Laboratory, created in 2017, aimed at designing and testing new solutions that improve public services and the daily lives of citizens and companies. It is an open space, which works in collaboration with service users, public administration officials and leaders, and the scientific and business community.

«The creation of the Municipal Experimentation Laboratory is an important instrument for internal capacity building and for strengthening and bringing the response closer to the citizen. Serving our citizens better is the main objective of this structure», emphasizes the mayor of Loulé Vítor Aleixo.

In this context, the training sessions of the municipal team took place in the week of October 8th to 16th, with the aim of strengthening the institutional culture and improving the service to the citizen, reinforcing the transparency and proximity that public services must have with the citizens.
