In loco launches the app «Cá se faz» which maps the local production of the Algarve

Quickly and simply, the app allows users to identify producers, products and their places of origin and sale

Associação In Loco has just launched the web and mobile application «Here they do», which maps local production in the Algarve, providing information that promotes direct forms of food supply.

“From home or anywhere else, consumers will be able, with a simple click on their mobile phone, to know where to find the local products closest to them”, explains In Loco.

Created within the scope of the 100% Local initiative, this technological tool places the agri-food production in the Algarve region in the center of attention.

Quickly and simply, it allows users to identify producers, products and their places of origin and sale.

The application can be accessed directly from www.casefazem.pt, or downloaded for mobile devices, being available for free in android or ios format, in the respective Google Playstore and App Store.

According to Associação In Loco, «this tool becomes a differentiating tool, as the producers mentioned there were visited to validate their production and marketing methods, using a set of criteria».

This prior process of characterization and consultation is intended to «guarantee that the production and processing practices of the products referenced in Cá se Fazem contribute, on the one hand, to sustainability and to the promotion of agri-food diversity in the region and, on the other hand, to check that the proper quality and freshness of the food highlighted there is assured'.

Thus, 'only fresh and processed agri-food products whose traceability is known by the geographical proximity between the point of production and the point(s) of sale and which are produced in the proper season, in a sustainable and responsible production mode, are referenced. ». In this way, In Loco will be able to ensure that reliable producers and products are being distinguished.

The project team says that «with the launch of this application, 100% Local thus fulfills its mission of making production more accessible, responding to the challenges of technology, hoping to attract new generations and placing products and producers in the spotlight, which it makes even more sense given the pandemic we are experiencing».

The application is accessible through the aforementioned channels, with the challenge that it is also up to consumers and producers themselves to contribute to its promotion and maintenance, which is essential for the success of the initiative.

Users may, at any time, send suggestions for improvement, give feedback about georeferenced products and producers and also disseminate the tool to their networks.

The integration of new producers is always being done. Thus, farmers or local producers/processors who wish to be included in the App can apply for membership at any time, being accepted upon investigation of their production and marketing conditions.

If you still don't know, visit and explore this technological solution at www.casefazem.pt and know where to find foods that originate near your door.

This tool was produced with financial support from NOPLANETB-AMI, Instituto Camões and the European Union.
