Castro Marim helps reinforce support for Campesino Recreativo Futebol Clube

Approved application allows works on sports facilities

Campesino Recreativo Futebol Clube, through a partnership with the Municipality of Castro Marim, submitted an application for funding under the Sports Facilities Rehabilitation Program (PRID 2020) of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ).

Castro Marim is then one of nine municipalities in the Algarve that sees the candidacy of one of its supported communities, as happened the previous year with the Clube Recreativo Alturense.

The current support, of around 22.500 euros, will allow the recovery of the Monte Francisco multi-sport facility, owned by the Parish Council of Castro Marim, commodated by Campesino, as well as the benches and changing rooms, which are owned by the City Council. The total investment is 50.000 euros, with the remainder supported by the Municipality of Castro Marim.

“The Monte Francisco multi-sport has been one of the main support infrastructures for the Club's activity, both sporting and socio-cultural, which Campesino promotes in the community and which has been expressed in a strong local dynamism. Examples of this are the Feast of the Emigrant, the Rolling Cart Test, social gatherings, accordion evenings, friendly football tournaments and an annual trail», stresses the Chamber of Castro Marim, in a press release.

Due to the pandemic circumstances, the activities of the Campesino are, for the most part, at a standstill, “this being the ideal moment to start the improvement works”.

The municipality of Castro Marim underlines “the effort and commitment of Campesino leaders, as well as the IPDJ and City Council technicians, who, every day, strive to build new bridges that promote better health and greater well-being ».
