Library of Faro dedicates the month of October to António Ramos Rosa

A painting of the poet and a bibliographic exhibition can be seen in the library's atrium

The Municipal Library of Faro in October it will celebrate the 96th anniversary of the birth of António Ramos Rosa, its patron.

Until the end of the month, a painting of the poet by the plastic artist Pulita, a Madeiran who is based in Faro since 1980 and whose artistic career of the painter is closely linked to the Cultural Center of São Lourenço, in Almancil, and the Art and Culture Center of Estoi.

In the same place, the bibliographical exhibition “Relembrando António Ramos Rosa” can be seen, which brings together a large part of the library's collection of the «vast poetic, critic and translator production» of the poet from Faro, according to the Chamber of Faro.

Visitors to this cultural space can also enjoy the permanent exhibition on the 1st floor, which brings together "objects donated by the poet, testimony to the various honors he received, literary prizes and honorary distinctions".

António Ramos Rosa, «central figure of Portuguese poetry of all times», was born in Faro on October 17, 1924 and died, in Lisbon, on September 23, 2013.
