The crowds of people that formed this Saturday in two of the stands at the Autódromo do Algarve, in Portimão, where the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Portugal is taking place, were due to spectators who «changed places», he assured today, Sunday , Ana Cristina Guerreiro, the regional health delegate for the Algarve.

“Regarding the distance, there were complicated situations. People changed places and approached the upper part of the stands», not complying with the safety distance, one of the stipulated rules to be able to watch the competition live, as shown by images that came to the public, said the official, in statements to RTP and TVI.

Ana Cristina Guerreiro admitted that “eventually, the 27.500 places could be a still large number, to guarantee a safety margin”, assuring that the Regional Health Authority will “analyze the situation”.

Also to RTP, Paulo Pinheiro, administrator of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, said that policing and control were reinforced this Sunday and that "three or four people were expelled for refusing to comply with safety standards."
