Ventania blows in Lagos, Lagoa, Portimão and Sagres

Festival is part of the 365Algarve program

Ventania – Barlavento Performing Arts Festival takes place from 26 September to 22 November, in Lagos, Lagoa, Portimão and Sagres.

This is an action «on themes of global citizenship, in a subtle warning to human detachment on the fragile territory of the Algarve».

Originally conceived for World Water Day and World Forest Day, celebrated on March 22 and 21, respectively, this year, Ventania is reinventing and reformulating itself, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The festival will occupy conventional presentation spaces such as the Fortaleza de Sagres Auditorium, the TEMPO -Teatro Municipal de Portimão and the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium, in Lagoa, as well as non-conventional spaces such as the Municipal Markets of Sagres and Lagoa, the Espaço Jovem de Lagos, Jardim da Constitution, in Lagos, Forte de Nossa Senhora da Encarnação Auditorium, in Carvoeiro, and also tourist spaces such as Monte da Casteleja (Lagos) and Faina Restaurant (Portimão).

“Ventania” proposes to “spread throughout the Barlavento Algarvio, shows and awareness actions, covering the areas of contemporary circus, contemporary dance, theater, music and disciplinary intersections: music/gastronomy, public art/installation/performance, installation/soundscape, seeking to reach audiences of various ages and cultures, and promoting co-creations with the local community».

This event is promoted by Teatro Experimental de Lagos and is part of the 365Algarve programme, a structure financed by Turismo de Portugal, with the hosting of the Municipalities of Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Portimão, Lagoa and the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
