This 27th of September, World Tourism Day, was celebrated in a different way by the Algarve Tourism Region. The responsible for the RTA decided to promote, in Silves, activities that brought together health officials in the region in an open-air program that led them to roll on the road on an electric bicycle or ride a cart or donkey, as a way of thanking for the provision in the prevention and control of the pandemic in the Algarve.
At Quinta de Santo Estêvão, on the outskirts of Silves, the moment reflected the theme defined by the United Nations for the World Tourism Day in 2020 (Tourism and Rural Development), which highlights the sector's capacity to create opportunities outside the large cities and the need to preserve cultural and natural heritage around the world in the face of the current public health crisis.
