The presentation session of the new edition of the Annals of the Municipality of Faro it took place this Saturday, September 26, at the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Município, with the presence of Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins, the new curator.
This is the first edition of the Annals directed by Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins.
The presentation session, due to the pandemic situation, "was carried out with scrupulous respect for the health safety standards and indications in force, including the use of a mask, compliance with the rules of respiratory etiquette and physical distance, which were strictly adhered to", says the Chamber of Faro.
The limitation of the number of people to the capacity of the Room in the presentation of this volume restricted the ceremony to guests, so it was broadcast directly in live streaming, so that all who so wished could attend the ceremony.
The presentation of this new edition of the Annals of the Municipality of Faro it was under the responsibility of João Guerreiro, full professor and former rector of the University of Algarve.
In the end, Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, greeted Guilherme de Oliveira Martins, «for accepting to put his academic and professional prestige at the service of the community to which, in this circumstance, he renders another valuable service».
Visibly satisfied with the result of the edition, Rogério Bacalhau recommended reading it, “because we are in front of an admirable volume with themes of the greatest interest to all Farenses”, he justified.
The mayor also listed the «affirmation of the national relevance of Teatro das Figuras and its programming, the growth of the Municipal Museum of Faro and the Municipal Library, the development of cultural associations and the creative environment of the county and, more recently, the launch of the cultural strategic plan, which we recently approved after the most participated process of its kind in memory».
