The sailors of the Clube Naval de Faro (GCNF) obtained the best national classification in the European Laser 4.7 Championship, which took place between 14 and 22 August, in Vilamoura, with the presence of more than 180 athletes from 21 countries.
Over the several days of the race, the sailors who fought for the European title had at their disposal good weather and sea conditions, which allowed them to carry out 11 of the 12 races initially planned.
The Naval Club Gym Faro was represented by 8 sailors – Leonor Dutra, Raquel Guerreiro, João Pontes, Miguel Sancho, William Risselin, Fernando Monteiro, Guilherme Cavaco and Artur Bruno – managing to obtain an excellent classification in the final results.
Highlight for Leonor Dutra, who held an excellent championship and always growing, always being in the top 10, climbed the table, finishing the last 5 races within the top 8, which earned her 4th place in the overall rankings.
In boys, the highest score goes to João Pontes, who finished in 11th place overall and 5th in the U16 category (under 16 years of age).
William Risselin was 14th, in what was a return to the class of the athlete who sailed the entire season in Laser Radial.
