Spanish tourist hit in the head by "piece of rock" in Praia da Marinha

Bather was transported by sea to Benagil, where the INEM ambulance was waiting for him

A Spanish tourist was injured, this Sunday afternoon, in Praia da Marinha, after being hit in the head by a "piece of rock". According to the Maritime Authority, the man was at a distance of 20 meters from the cliff.

The bather was removed from the place, «by sea, to Praia de Benagil, by an operator of a maritime-tourist vessel», adds the entity.

On Benagil beach, an INEM ambulance was waiting for him, with two members of the Lagoa Volunteer Firefighters, who transported the victim to the Hospital de Portimão.

Two elements of the Maritime Police of Portimão were also involved in this relief operation, with an all-terrain vehicle.

The local command of the Maritime Police of Portimão took care of the incident.

The National Maritime Authority reinforces the alert "so that people remain safe, respecting signs on beaches and not approaching unstable cliffs." Considering the current small width of Praia da Marinha beach, it is not easy to comply with these recommendations.
