Sagres lifeguard helped sailboat caught in fishing nets off Lagos

Vessel in distress was released and taken to safe haven

This Monday night, the Sagres Lifeguard Station helped a sailboat that got stuck in fishing gear about four kilometers south of Lagos, with two crew on board.

The alert was given around 23:00. The vessel “SR-33” from the Lifesaving Station of Sagres, whose crew released the French-flagged sailboat, was dispatched to the location.

“The vessel from the Lifesaving Station of Sagres also accompanied the sailboat on its way to the marina in Lagos, where it safely docked at 01:00 am today”, according to the National Maritime Authority.
