Lifeguards from Quarteira helps sailboat that ran out of engine off Vilamoura

Vessel had to be towed between the entrance of the bar and the waiting pier, for safety reasons

The boat Salva-Vidas de Quarteira helped a sailboat that had a breakdown in its engine this morning when it was about seven kilometers southeast of the Vilamoura Marina bar.

The vessel, with a Portuguese flag, had three people on board, who "were well, with no need for medical assistance", according to the National Maritime Authority.

The alert was given at 23:30 pm, with the Quarteira Lifeguard Station having sent a boat to the site, where it found that the sailboat had the capacity to sail close to Vilamoura.

It was with this means of locomotion that the sailboat made the trip to the entrance of the Vilamoura Marina bar, and from there it was towed to the pier waiting for the lifeboat, for safety reasons.
