Inclusive holidays, already taking place in the current month of August, will kick off the “Educarte” project, an initiative coordinated by the Irene Rolo Foundation that aims to combat child poverty in the municipality of Tavira.

The first activity of this project, a 4th Generation Social Development Local Contract, is aimed at vulnerable children and young people from Tavira.

«In a context of pandemic, we reinforce the importance of this type of actions, which aim to offer a set of recreational activities to recipients, who in recent months have been deprived of their routines and social contacts», illustrates the Irene Rolo Foundation.

The Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS) from Tavira emphasizes "the importance of playing in the psychosocial development of children, as well as the relevance of this action in terms of family and professional reconciliation for the parents of the participants".

The “Educarte” Inclusive Holidays will also feature children with disabilities, who will be accompanied by “a specialized technical team, in order to respond to the needs and expectations of all participants”.

«In addition to this action, throughout the project, which will last for 3 years, a set of activities will be promoted with a view to promoting the social inclusion of population groups that reveal higher levels of social fragility and the enhancement of a proximity intervention », added the Irene Rolo Foundation.

The municipality of Tavira «was identified as a territory characterized by “critical situations of poverty, particularly of children”, based on its characteristics in terms of social fragility, so the intervention of the project will be at the level of “Axis 2: Family and Parental Intervention, Preventing Child Poverty”, by CLDS 4G».

«For this purpose, different agents and local resources will be mobilized in an integrated manner, aiming at a proximity intervention carried out in partnership, with a view to family and parental intervention, preventing child poverty, based on an action plan drawn up with the collaboration of the executive nucleus of the local council of social action», concludes the IPSS tavirense.
