Exhibition “Com Outros Olhos” shows art by Rui Marques in Lagoa

Rui Marques is autistic and discovered a taste for painting at the Mestre Fernando Rodrigues School of Arts

The exhibition “Com Outros Olhos”, by Rui Marques, will be on display from the 3rd to the 25th of September, at the Manuela Vale Gallery, at the Mestre Fernando Rodrigues School of Arts, in Lagoa.

Rui Marques, who was diagnosed with autism when he was still very young, was taken in by the Mestre Fernando Rodrigues School of Arts «before his Individual Transition Plan and since then he has explored different plastic techniques with him. taste for painting», according to the Chamber of Lagoa.

«Coming to paint has become an essential routine, being the bridge that connects your inner world with the outside. The choice of themes led him to new discoveries, knowledge, possibilities and experimentation with plastic techniques and materials», added the municipality.

As time passes, Rui Marques becomes «familiar with the techniques of drawing and painting to match his style, with great dedication».

The Câmara de Lagoa highlighted that «the artistic practice has been a help, and now painting is more than a therapy, it is also an opportunity to promote your artistic work and perhaps the beginning of a new path».

Rui Marques has participated in individual and group exhibitions, having been awarded for his work in national painting competitions.

The exhibition is free of charge and can be visited from Monday to Friday from 09:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 14:00 pm to 17:30 pm.
