Elections for the presidency of the CCDR will be in "mid-October"

Electoral colleges are made up of mayors, councilors, deputies of municipal assemblies and presidents of the board of each CCDR.

Elections for the presidency of the regional coordination and development commissions (CCDR) will take place in “mid-October”, announced the Minister of Modernization of the State and Public Administration, Alexandra Leitão. One of the vice presidents will also be chosen by indirect elections; the other will be appointed by the Government to ensure gender parity.

The approximate date of the electoral act was revealed by the minister to the “Public”, as part of the publication of the ordinance that approves and defines the rules for the elections of the five CCDRs.

The diploma, published this Friday in Diário da República, stipulates that the General Directorate of Local Authorities (DGAL) must launch the call at least 30 days before going to the polls. The election takes place on the same day and at the same time, but in different locations: one to elect the president, another to elect the vice president.
