PSD «demands resignation» of the town councilor of Loulé City Council

Social Democrats accuse executive of pressuring head of Urbanization and Building division to resign

The PSD/Loulé «demands the immediate resignation of councilor Heloísa Madeira, who holds the responsibility for Urbanism in the City Council». In a statement, the social democrats of Loulé said that the councilor "does not meet any conditions to remain in office, and if she does not withdraw on her own foot, it should be the mayor of the municipality to exonerate her."

Loulé's PSD's take up position a day after Vítor Aleixo, president of the Loulé Council, having announced, at a press conference, that DIAP and CCDR Algarve will investigate possible irregularities in the municipality's urban planning department and that the head of the Urbanization and Building division has made the place available.

In the statement, the PSD/Loulé accuses the Loulé municipal executive of “pressing the dismissal of the direct head of the process, completely ignoring any political responsibilities”.

For the Social Democrats, the technician who, according to the PSD/Loulé, was “invited to resign, thus serves as the real scapegoat of the situation, after councilwoman Heloísa Madeira has repeatedly reiterated her confidence in this very same technician".

The PSD/Loulé also accuses Vítor Aleixo of "diverting attention and trying to save the face of his councilor", by promoting "a number of pure illusionism", announcing, in a press conference, "with all the pomp, the delivery to the Public Ministry of the process that gave rise to the complaint of duality of criteria. For him, it's a tidy and closed matter».

With this, says the PSD, «Vítor Aleixo wants to convey the image that he knows nothing, has nothing to do with it, and is not even responsible».

However, says the social-democrat council, "whether or not there are suspicions, and whether they are founded or unfounded, it is on the politicians who manage the city council that the responsibility of the structure they appoint falls on."

For all of this, "if in an area as important as Urban Planning there are suspicions of irregularities in a department whose heads are all directly trusted by the councilor who holds the portfolio, she has no other way but to present her resignation herself." adds the PSD/Loulé.

Regarding the investigation by the Public Ministry, the PSD/Loulé says it hopes that it "will be swift and effective, to put an end to this disaster that Vítor Aleixo is unable to control."
