Salema Beach already has amphibious chair

Praia also has a health center

Praia da Salema, in Vila do Bispo, has an amphibious chair that was provided by the Municipality of Vila do Bispo. This equipment allows users with mobility limitations to “enjoy this bathing area with more safety and comfort”.

The chair will be the responsibility of the beach concessionaire, Atlântico restaurant.

Vila do Bispo Council explains that “the amphibious chair was offered to the municipality as part of an application by the Municipal Council
to the Vodafone Foundation's “Healthy Beach” Program. This equipment, which allows citizens with reduced mobility to access water, reinforces the set of infrastructures that make this beach an “Accessible Beach – Beach for All”».

The local authority recalls that Salema beach, in 2020, was awarded this award once again “for meeting and complying with a set of requirements that allow its use by people with reduced mobility. This distinction is attributed to bathing areas that meet a set of conditions that allow all people to use them without compromising their age and mobility or mobility difficulties, that is, they have pedestrian access; ordered and reserved parking; an access to the bathing area; of walkways on the beach; adapted sanitary facilities located in an easily accessible location; first-aid services and specially trained lifeguards'.

Praia da Salema, under the 2020 Summer Plan of ARS Algarve, with the support of the Vila do Bispo Municipal Council, has also available, since this Tuesday 21st of July, a health post «which will ensure health care bathers on site or, in case of need, will forward them to a more appropriate health unit».

The health post is open from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm, until August 30, at the Atlântico restaurant beach concession.
