Romanian Ștefan Crețu's “Flight” will land in the Garden of Communities of Almancil

«This is an installation that addresses the mythological theme of the firebird»

The work “Voo”, by the Romanian sculptor Ștefan Radu Crețu, is inaugurated on the 8th of August, at 19 pm, at Jardim das Comunidade, in Almancil.

The sculptural arrangement that will beautify the heart of the village of Almancil is a modern reinterpretation of the famous “Bird in space” by Constantin Brancusi, the most renowned Romanian sculptor of the XNUMXth century.

«This is an installation that addresses the mythological theme of the firebird and that purposefully alludes to Constantin Brancusi's 'Maiastra', for its stylization and abstraction. As an interpretable theme and with similar versions in many cultures, the Phoenix bird is associated with the Sun, however it always appears in different ways, in various shapes, shades of color and sizes, so that its image always remains enigmatic». says the author of the sculpture that will beautify the Garden of Communities.

The work has been previously appreciated in two successful exhibitions in Portugal, at Parque Marechal Carmona in the center of Cascais (2018) and in the garden of Centro Cultural de Redondo (2019).

This initiative is the result of a partnership between the Romanian Cultural Institute, Romanian Embassy in the Portuguese Republic, Loulé City Council, Almancil Parish Council and DOINA – Association of Romanian and Moldovan Immigrants in the Algarve.
