Former Portuguese international Luís Figo is participating in the Iberian Golf Cup 2020, at Salgados Golf Course, in Albufeira, to raise funds for the Portuguese and Spanish Food Banks.

This tournament, which began this Thursday and continues until tomorrow, is an initiative of the Luís Figo Foundation and the Iberian Golf Cup.

The “Golfe Solidário” project is promoted by Luís Figo, together with Spanish businessman Juan Morales, and has the objective “to help those most in need in times of the Covid-19 pandemic”.

In Portugal, the funds raised are intended for the Food Emergency Network, a project created specifically to support families in crisis during this period of pandemic.

«Golf is characterized by promoting such important values as effort, self-control and discipline, but this initiative aims to add one more to it: Solidarity and both the Captains of the teams in Portugal and Spain appeal to individual and corporate generosity, counting on the collaboration of all to give thanks to this noble cause», emphasizes the press office of the tournament.

According to the project's website, 25.800 euros have already been raised.
