Loulé participates in a European artistic co-creation project

Young people are invited to create artistic productions, with hip-hop as a basic form of expression

Loulé will be part of the “People Power Partnership Project”, a large-scale artistic co-creation project, approved by the Creative Europe program of the European Union.

104 participants, from 13 partner cities, from different social groups and with different degrees of training, «establish links and commonalities between different cultures, communities and people, promoting understanding and interaction», thus following the objectives of the European Agenda for Culture, in relation to intercultural dialogue.

This project will run between October 2020 and December 2024.

"By the end of this year, a workshop/hearing will be held to select 8 young adults, aged between 18 and 25, who will, over the four years, participate in the "People Power Partnership Project"", explains the Chamber of Loulé.

During the period of the project, «the young participants from Loulé will have the opportunity to work together with other young people from partner entities, for a total of 10 weeks, and each participant will travel to at least 4 different countries», adds the municipality.

The total value of the project will be close to 4 million euros, and the investment by the Municipality of Loulé is around 189 thousand euros, financed at 50%, for the four years of the project.

In each partner city, specific artistic productions will be created and carried out, with Hip-Hop as a basic form of expression. By the end of the project, a total of 26 performances will have taken place.

These artistic productions «will be inspired by themes chosen by the participants themselves, and which are, consequently, unique reflections of each particular urban space and of the people who inhabit it», concludes Câmara de Loulé.
