Jorge Palma, Tim, Bárbara Tinoco and Capicua do not miss the summer in Tavira

The maximum capacity of spaces for the shows was reduced in accordance with the rules of the DGS

Jorge Palma, Tim, Paião, Bárbara Tinoco, or Capicua are some of the names that will spend the summer in Tavira, which returns in July and August. The City Council promises a program "on the occasion of the commemorations of the 500th anniversary of the elevation of Tavira to the city".

The municipality guarantees that "all safety and hygiene standards will be complied with, in enclosures, even if delimited, outdoors" and emphasizes that a "diverse, multidisciplinary cultural program has been prepared, in an integrating fusion of local, regional and national artists and of valuing Portuguese culture».

The kickoff will be on the 16th of July, with Jazz at Palácio da Galeria, comprising a cycle of three shows that will take place at Pátio do Palácio da Galeria at 22 pm.

TGB (Tuba, Guitar and Drums) with Sérgio Carolino, Mário Delgado and Alexandre Frazão, a trio with extensive experience in the national music scene, kicks off the summer agenda.

This is followed, on July 17th, by LST – Lisbon String Trio (José Peixoto, Bernardo Couto, Carlos Barretto) and Cristina Branco, with «equidistant music from various traditions that develops on different intersecting platforms, where musicians can get together. express freely'.

On the 18th, singer Rita Maria and pianist Filipe Raposo make known a small sample of the musical universe that inspires them, from traditional Portuguese music, through jazz, baroque, French impressionism, cinematographic repertoire and original compositions by the duo.

Fado is once again part of the summer offer. On the 23rd of July and 6th of August, at 22 pm, in the Parque do Palácio da Galeria, the musical moment “Amália 00 anos por Fado com História” will take place. Also, on the 100th of July, at 30 pm, in the same place, it is possible to watch the performance of Fado Tropical.

On the 24th of July, in the Parque do Palácio da Galeria and at the same time, the band from the film “Variações” takes to the stage. This unites Sérgio Praia (actor who plays the role of António Variações), musicians Duarte Cabaça, David Silva, Vasco Duarte and the music producer responsible for the film's soundtrack, Armando Teixeira.

The singer of Xutos & Pontapés, Tim, in the year he celebrates his 60th birthday, presents himself on the 25th of July, at 22 pm, at Parque do Palácio da Galeria, with the album “00 – 20 – 20” .

On the 31st of July, at 22 pm, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, directed by Maestro Rui Pinheiro, will perform at the Palácio da Galeria Park with works by Mozart, Schubert, Debussy, Bizet and Freitas Branco.

In August, on the 1st, at 22 pm, it will be the turn of the “supergroup” Paião to perform at the Palácio da Galeria Park. This project, which brings together Marlon (Os Azeitonas), Jorge Benvinda (Virgem Suta) João Pedro Coimbra (Mesa), VIA and Nuno Figueiredo (Virgem Suta/Ultraleve), had its first public appearance in the 00 edition of the Festival da Canção e appeared to honor the work of Carlos Paião, recovering all his great successes.

On the 7th, at 22 pm, at the same place, Vitorino Salomé and Zé Francisco will present the project “A Sul”. The next day, it's Capicua's turn to take the stage.

There will still be «time to watch other works such as: “Música 281” Poets sung + 4Soul (day 13/8) | “Música 281” Osmose + GYGGI (20/8) and Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve (14/8).

Dead Combo's last tour with “Odeon Hotel” takes the stage, on August 15th, also at Palácio da Galeria Park, at 22 pm. This concert is a tribute to Zé Pedro dos Xutos & Pontapés.

Bárbara Tinoco, 20-year-old singer and songwriter, performs, on August 21st, in the same place and at the same time.

Jorge Palma, one of the most prominent names in the program, who is celebrating 70 years, has a show scheduled for August 22nd.

The Banda Musical de Tavira will also perform at the Palácio da Galeria Park, on the 27th of August, at 22 pm. The Algarvians Viviane and Tó Viegas take the stage, on August 00th, with the work “Camaleão Azul”. This is followed, on the 28th, in the same place and at the same time, by the fado singer Ricardo Ribeiro.

In addition to the musical aspect, this program offers the Tavira Film Show, which takes place in July (17th to 19th and 24th to 26th) and August (7th to 9th and 14th to 16th), in the cloisters of Convento do Carmo, at 21 pm. The initiative is an organization of the Cineclube de Tavira, which has the support of the Municipality of Tavira.

Also, in the cloisters of Convento Carmo, there will be several electronic music concerts organized by the Zer0 Museum: Joana Gama and Luís Fernandes (5/8), Iani (12/8), Marta Pascalis (19/8) and Boris Chimp 504 (26/8).

Also in an initiative of the Zer0 Museum, it will be possible to watch, at the Ermida de São Roque, between the 31st of July and the 14th of August, the video art work of João Martinho Moura and ARM, as well as the Dutch artist Marnix, between the 15th and the 30th of August. Four sessions will be held per night, between 21:30 pm and 23:00 pm, with a duration of 15 minutes each.

In the Municipal Museum of Tavira it is possible to visit, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:30 am to 19:00 pm (from the 15th), the exhibitions “A Principal do Reino do Algarve – Tavira in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries” and “Mediterranean Diet , Millennial Cultural Heritage”, both at Palácio da Galeria. In turn, at the Islamic Center, there is a patent for “Tavira Islâmica“.

The ticket office is open daily, in Praça da República, from 19 pm to 00 pm. It is also possible to purchase tickets, on the days of the shows, in the square in front of the Palácio da Galeria, and in the https://ticketline.sapo.pt/.

The maximum capacity of spaces was reduced in accordance with the DGS rules and with the contingency plans created for this purpose, being mandatory the advance purchase of tickets, including in free shows.

Tickets for the shows “Variações”, “Paião”, Vitorino Salomé and Zé Francisco, Capicua, Bárbara Tinoco and Ricardo Ribeiro cost 5 euros, while the shows by Tim, Dead Combo and Jorge Palma cost 10 euros.

The remaining shows are free of charge.

The value of the tickets reverts to the purchase of personal protective equipment for the municipality's charities.

It is mandatory to wear a mask and comply with the safety rules defined for the various shows, and information will be made available on site.
