João Félix part of Faro to the “conquest” of EN2

The route, of 1250 km, will be made over 25 stages

Ultramarathon runner João Félix will ride the EN2, starting from Faro, this Thursday, July 16, heading to Chaves. 

this will be the second time that João Félix will travel the EN2. With a solidary aspect and under the motto “I run against domestic violence”, the event, which is also a tribute to all health professionals, begins in Faro, at the “Rotunda of km 738”.

Then, João Félix will head to Porto and descend across the country, passing by Figueira da Foz and Sintra, and will finish the race in Lisbon, on 8 August, in front of the Monument to the Discoveries.

The route, of 1250 km, will be done over 25 stages, an average of 50 kilometers per day.

João Paulo Félix, born in Salvaterra de Magos and a sociologist by profession, completed in 2017 the “Challenge of the National Road N2 a Running: Chaves-Faro”, in a course of 739,260 km, during 14 stages. It ran, on average, 52 kilometers a day, on autonomy, under the high temperatures of August. He was the first and only athlete to run the national road N2, the third largest road in the world and the largest in Europe.

Among João Félix's various challenges, the “1st Tour of Ribatejo a Running” (328 km), the “Porto-Lisbon running: from Foz do Douro to Foz do Tejo” (360 km) km), the race “Tróia-Sagres a Correr” (224 km) and the “Brompton N2 challenge”, during which he pedaled 739,260 km on a 16 wheel folding bicycle.

“Volta a Portugal a Correr” has the logistical support of the Municipality of Faro and will be attended by councilor Carlos Baía, representing the president of the City Council of Faro, at the time of departure in Faro.
