Francisco Serra participates in the Council of the Alentejo-Algarve-Andalusia Euroregion

Francisco Serra, president of the Algarve's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR), participates until today, 29 July, in the Council of the Euroregion Alentejo – Algarve – Andalusia which is taking place in Huelva and Seville (Spain). 

During this working day there will be a presentation and an interim assessment of several cross-border cooperation projects, developed with the support of European Union funds, under the Interreg España – Portugal Program (POCTEP), namely CILIFO – Iberian Center for the Fight against forest fires, Magalhães Center for Cultural and Creative Industries and CIU3A – University Innovation Center of Andalucía, Alentejo and Algarve specializing in Industry 4.0, Logistics, Materials and Sustainability.

The Euroregion is a structure supported by the European Union for neighboring territories, belonging to different countries, to advance in cross-border cooperation.

On May 5, 2010 it was signed in the city of Faro (Portugal), the Cross-Border Cooperation Agreement for the creation of the “Euroregion Alentejo-Algarve-Andalusia” Working Community, involving the CCDRs of Alentejo and Algarve and the Junta de Andalucia.

This new Euroregion, whose legal form is the “Labor Community” under the terms of the Valencia Convention of 3 October 2002, and replaces in a single tripartite instrument the Algarve-Andalusia and Alentejo-Andalusia bilateral protocols in force since 1995 and 2001 , respectively.
