Aljezur already has a Mobile Health Unit

Aljezur is one of the 10 Algarve municipalities that already have a Mobile Health Unit

Aljezur already has a Mobile Health Unit at the disposal of the population, with the objective of taking care to the most remote places in the municipality.

According to the Municipality of Aljezur, the "main objective is to reduce the asymmetry verified in the access of users to primary health care, ensuring adequate coverage in rural and low-density territories."

“It is hoped to reduce the likelihood of aging and isolated populations not being followed up regularly or on a scheduled basis. This investment qualifies the existing health equipment network, adapting it to the new reality, reducing inequalities and promoting social inclusion», he adds.

Aljezur is thus one of 10 Algarve municipalities with a Mobile Health Unit already available.

Each is owned by the respective municipal authority, which is the financial beneficiary of community support. Through cooperation agreements and other management instruments, the project includes the articulation between the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve and each of the 10 Municipal Councils.

ARS Algarve ensures healthcare professionals and clinical consumables and each municipality ensures all the operation of the mobile healthcare unit, including the professional who runs it.

The 10 proximity mobile health units are equipped to carry out diagnostic and surveillance actions, and can be used by doctors, nurses and other health professionals in the primary health care of the National Health Service, to complement the offer of the functional units of the Groups of Health Centers in the Algarve (Barlavento, Central and Sotavento), with the support of other professionals provided by the respective municipal councils.

The investment was applied for the operational program CRESCalgarve 2020 by ARS in two phases, with financial beneficiaries in the first phase being the municipal councils of Alcoutim, Aljezur, Loulé, Monchique, São Brás de Alportel, Silves and Tavira and, in the second phase, the Councils municipalities of Albufeira, Castro Marim and Portimão. The investment was carried out in 2017 and 2018, together for the two phases.
