CCDR Algarve Webinar discusses Water and Sustainable Development

This project is supported by European Union funds

The Algarve's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) promotes a webinar on Water and Sustainable Development, this Tuesday, June 23, at 11:00 am, with the participation of Manuela Moreira da Silva, professor at the University of Algarve (UAlg) .

“Water is fundamental for sustainable development. The continuous growth of the world economy has led humanity to take risks for which it is not prepared, and which it has not known how to manage. In a world full of contrasts, access to safe water is a distant reality for many», says the Algarve's CCDR.

«There is an urgent need, unless better evaluated, for a change in paradigm, supported by scientific-based behavioral changes, and by cutting-edge technological tools, taking advantage of the great investment of the last decades. The sustainable management of water in this scenario and without leaving anyone behind, is a huge challenge to be faced», he adds.

CCDR Algarve, Associação In loco, Associação Terras do Baixo Guadiana and Vicentina – Association for the Development of the Southwest are partners in the “Articular para Intervir” project, which aims to strengthen capacities to pursue a Strategic Territorial Development Vision Integrated for the Algarve in 2030, aiming to deepen the critical factors of regional competitiveness and sustainability, in its different strategic dimensions - economic, social, environmental and governance -, transversal and complementary, based on new and old challenges and themes that matter in the affirmation of the Algarve.

This project has the support of European Union funds, under the CRESC Algarve2020 Operational Program.
