30 firefighters from Faro helped fight Aljezur fire

Fire consumed more than 2 thousand hectares

30 operational of the Fire Department of Sapadores de Faro were mobilized to fight the fire that broke out on Friday in the municipality of Aljezur and that spread to the municipalities of Vila do Bispo and Lagos.

According to the Chamber of Faro, «in total, since the beginning of this fire, a command team, a vehicle to fight forest fires and a tactical tank vehicle were involved, all resources allocated to the Firefighters Sapadores de Faro».

The fire was only considered extinguished this Sunday, after having consumed more than 2 hectares.

In a note sent to the newsrooms, the Chamber of Faro emphasizes that it again «approved the protocol promoted by the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL) with a view to the constitution of the Special Provision for Combating Rural Fires (DECIR) in the district, for this time of year (15
from May to 15 October)'.

The Faro local authority also presents «its recognition» to «all the command and operationals involved» and recalls «the great value of the fire brigades of our municipality, Sapadores and Volunteers “Cruz Lusa”, already tested in the most diverse and difficult theaters of operations, always with success».
