Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro offers tablets to the elderly

Until now, seniors from the Centro Popular de Lagoa used employee tablets to talk to their families

The Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro (UFLC) acquired and offered tablets to elderly people in the Centro Popular de Lagoa.

The municipality explains that this «technological tool, in time of confinement and absence of visits, has proven to be essential for users of that institution, even at a distance, to continue to see and communicate with their families, thus contributing to alleviate homesickness and combat loneliness».

The decision of the União de Freguesias was taken by noting that, «until now, the only way that users had to use this form of communication was through the private devices of some employees».

This is the second investment that the municipality makes in the acquisition of this type of material, since had already invested 10 euros in the purchase of tablets and means of internet access for schools.
