Support measures taken in times of pandemic

The Câmara de Tavira reinforced the social support in times of pandemic of Covid-19, distributing meals to those who need it most and providing accommodation to the homeless.

The municipality implemented a free takeaway meal service in all parishes. This aid is carried out with the collaboration of the Social Center of Nossa Senhora das Dores (Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo), Parish Center of Cachopo, Social Center of Santo Estêvão, Casa do Povo da Luz and Humanitarian Center of the Portuguese Red Cross and results in distribution of more than 80 meals a day.

In the city of Tavira, 113 meals are provided every day, in cooperation with the Red Cross Humanitarian Centre.

Added to this is the creation of an Essential Supplement (VSE) voucher. 240 families now benefit from the delivery of a set of vouchers that enable them to buy essential foodstuffs.

During this period, the City relocated another six homeless people into shared housing.
