Macau's Santa Casa da Misericórdia offers 55 masks to its “colleagues” in the Algarve

1100 boxes with protective equipment have already been distributed to 20 institutions

Macau's Santa Casa da Misericórdia offered 55 masks to its counterparts in the Algarve, he told the Sul Informação the president of the Regional Secretariat of Misericórdias.

This offer is included in the donation of one million masks that the Macanese institution made to the União das Misericórdias Portuguesas and which was distributed to all Portuguese Misericórdias with social equipment. The operation was articulated between the Union and regional secretariats.

Armindo Vicente added that it is an offer worth "at least 50 thousand euros", which "arrived at the right time". "We are very grateful to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Macau, in the person of the provider António José Freitas, for their generosity and because we really miss these protective equipment," he said.

«The first to be delivered were to Misericórdia de Boliqueime, as soon as they arrived in the Algarve, so that they could immediately be used in that institution that has users and employees infected with Covid-19. Other Misericórdias had very limited stocks and this help allows to reinforce the protection of users and employees in the Residential Structures”, so the offer will be very useful.

The 1100 boxes containing the masks offered by Santa Casa de Macau have already been distributed to the 20 institutions that have social responses in the Algarve region. The Misericórdia of Vila do Bispo, of which Armindo Vicente is supplier, made the distribution in the Barlavento of the Algarve, while the one in Albufeira took care of the Sotavento. "The intention was that they would quickly reach all the Misericórdias."

Those responsible for the institutions have shown their gratitude for the gesture of the Misericórdia of Macau, which, in fact, had already helped the country “when it was the 2017 fires” and said “that a letter of thanks signed by all the Misericórdias is being prepared. to be sent to Macau and which will contain images of all deliveries to each institution,” added the president of the Regional Secretariat of Algarvian Misericórdias.
