Faro reopens museums and Trem Gallery

The spaces will have "new safety and operating rules, following the guidelines of the health institutions"

The Municipal Museum of Faro, the Regional Museum and the Trem Gallery, in Faro, will reopen on the 2nd of June.

The spaces will have “new safety and operating rules, following the guidelines of the health institutions”.

The use of a mask will be mandatory for visitors and there will be a maximum limit of people per exhibition hall, avoiding the permanence of a large number of visitors.

In the Municipal Museum, in addition to the ever-inviting Roman mosaic of the Deus Oceano, National Treasure since 2018, the rooms along the paths of the Roman Algarve, the Islamic house, the Ancient Painting room and the exhibition on the baroque sculptor Manuel Martins, will also be open. which features some of the most unique pieces of the local artistic heritage.

In the old chapel, another exhibition of contemporary art with Artadentro will enter the scene, still in June.

At the Regional Museum, visitors can still find traditions from other times, typical architecture of the region, black and white photos by Hélder de Azevedo, paintings of landscapes and parties by Carlos Porfírio or memories of activities that do not exist today.

The exhibition by Orlando Franco will be at the Trem gallery, until 15th July, with the curatorship of the visual arts course at the University of Algarve.

For the mayor, this is excellent news, "since part of the charm of this municipality lies in the unique riches displayed in its museums".

Rogério Bacalhau even understands that, «now that all the new requirements to safeguard the health of visitors and employees have been implemented, there are good reasons to re-enter museums safely: with due social distance between people, but close to the incredible collection which is exposed there and which makes us unique as a community with an unparalleled historical and cultural background».
