Faro gives 5 euros to the University of the Algarve to help students in difficulty

The Municipality of Faro awarded a donation of 5 euros to the University of Algarve (UAlg) with the aim of helping students who are experiencing difficulties.

This initiative, implemented under the #FaroWith you, a package of 47 measures presented by the City Council of Faro to face the pandemic crisis, it foresees that the funds will be used to help UAlg university students who have difficulties or are unable to bear expenses related to the payment of tuition fees or accommodation in student residences.

The Municipality understands that "at this extraordinarily difficult time in everyone's life, it cannot fail to assume its responsibilities, even with those who may be in difficulties at a crucial moment in their training stages, and who may become important active agents in the near future of the municipality, in the region and in the country».

In all, the municipality has already invested a total of 190 euros in various social support to face this situation of social emergency related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

«Although still far from its end, the pandemic crisis has already left severe marks on the social and economic fabric and at this moment, only with a lot of work and unity will we be able to overcome the difficulties of this unprecedented crisis. It is time to show solidarity and to give everyone at least one certainty, that the Municipality of Faro he will always be present in difficult times», says Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro.
