Lagoa Chamber and Tourism Region presented support to micro-entrepreneurs in the municipality

Luís Encarnação announced his intention to cooperate with the tourism sector “responsible for more than 90% of the economy of the municipality of Lagoa”

The Municipality of Lagoa and the Algarve Tourism Region promoted an action to clarify, with the municipality's micro-entrepreneurs, on the support measures available by the government, which they have at their disposal, now that the economic recovery is being prepared, without neglecting health care.

The implemented measures include financial support, aimed at micro-enterprises (up to 9 workers) and individual entrepreneurs (ENI) in the Tourism sector, with a monthly value of 750 euros for each job in the company on February 29, 2020 , multiplied by the period of three months, up to a maximum amount of 20.000 euros.

The managing partners may also be included in this measure if their function is paid and is included in the Remuneration statement delivered to Social Security.

The financing is interest-free and repayable in nature and is repaid within three years with a 12-month grace period.

In this action, in addition to clarifying what support is available, the president of the municipality of Lagoa underlined the need to “not throw away what was achieved with everyone's effort”, in a time of confinement.

Luís Encarnação reinforced the idea that “it is necessary to keep in mind that the end of the state of emergency does not mean the end of danger. Therefore, it is still necessary to use the care and prevention practices previously recommended”.

The mayor also met this Monday with the managers of the large commercial surfaces (hypermarkets) and the managers of the municipality's filling stations, which are the places where there will be, daily, a larger population agglomeration, to appeal to continue to be rigorous in measures to contain the spread of Covid-19, as they have done so far. He acknowledged the excellent work they have been doing, but recalled that “we cannot let our guard down”.

“On this first day of the rest of the new normality of our lives”, which coincides with the beginning of the ninth week of the new reality, Luís Encarnação once again thanked the contribution of all the people of Lagos for the success of the confinement phase and, in particular, of the guarantee the production and distribution of essential goods and services.

To the Municipality's willingness to collaborate with these strategic operators, Luís Encarnação added the intention of cooperating with the tourism sector “responsible for more than 90% of the economy of the municipality of Lagoa”.
