Enrollment is now open for the contest “Colors and Shapes of Our Artists”, promoted by the City Council of Albufeira. This is a biennial event, «which aims to promote and enhance local artists or artists residing in the municipality of Albufeira in various artistic aspects, including painting, drawing and sculpture», explains the municipality.
Artists can now contact the telephone number 289 599 591 to schedule the delivery of the works and the formalization of registration, which will be made, in person, between 15 and 19 June, at Galeria Municipal João Bailote.
According to the Municipality of Albufeira, «this year, in the context of a pandemic and the consequent need to implement the measures recommended by the General Directorate of Health, with a view to the safety of workers and users of cultural facilities in the municipality, the Municipality saw if obliged to adjust the regulation of the event, so for the first time since 1997 – 1st edition of “Cores e Formas” – participants will only be able to apply with one work, instead of a minimum of two and a maximum of four works by author in previous editions».
When the works are delivered, the artists must fill in the registration form, provided by the organization, which must be
accompanied by Curriculum Vitae/Artistic and documents proving birth or residence in the municipality of Albufeira.
The three best works in the competition will be distinguished with monetary prizes in the amount of 750 euros (1st prize), 500 euros (2nd prize) and 250 euros (3rd prize).
Honorable mentions may also be given to some works.
«This is another opportunity for artists to see their work recognized by a jury made up of experts from the respective areas in the competition, as well as by the public who will be able to appreciate all the works selected in the exhibition to be held at Galeria Municipal João Bailote, from 14 from August to 19th of September», concludes the Council of Albufeira.
