Vicentina opens notices for support to agricultural producers in Barlavento

Measures were adapted to the new reality

Applications for support measures for producers in the 2020 Leader Rural Development Program (PDR) are open until the 1st of June, announced the Vicentina association, the managing entity of the ADERE 2020 GAL.

Vicentina, whose Local Action Group has an intervention area that covers the municipalities of Aljezur, Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Monchique, Silves and Portimão, opened notices for five measures, namely: “Small Investments in Agricultural Exploration”; “Small Investments in the Transformation and Marketing of Agricultural Products”; “Diversification of Agricultural Activities”; “Short Chains”; and “Local Markets”.

More information about the different measures and what is required to make applications can be found in the ADERE 2020 GAL website.

The opening of this new application period follows the release of the annual execution report of the GAL ADERE 2020 Local Development Strategy, for the year 2019.

This document made it possible to verify “that the measures with the greatest adherence by beneficiaries, in 2019, were Small Investments in Agricultural Holdings and Short Chains, more specifically, trips to the market. Aware that one of the measures with the greatest adherence was that of short chains, changes were made that aim to correspond to some of the constraints experienced by producers in times of pandemic», according to Vicentina.

"Now, the use of support was foreseen in addition to trips to the markets, but also for "deliveries at specific points and purchases of associated services"", said the association

In addition to this change, which is directly related to the activity of farmers, "another one was also planned, for municipalities and associations or partnerships, who intend to apply and obtain funding for "Adaptation and equipping of existing infrastructure for specific points of delivery of baskets and agricultural products”».

"At a time when agricultural activity saw its form of sustainability affected by the ban on selling in public places, it is very important to reinforce that there are measures aimed at mitigating and supporting farmers to continue their production and investments in the Algarve regions", concluded the Vincentian.
