New measure in Portimão: Firemen's siren “announces” recovery order

Siren will be activated "when situations of too many people on the streets are reported, in clear disobedience to the quarantine in force

Whenever the siren sounds at the Fire Department in Portimão, this «means that abnormal situations of people circulating in the city's streets and public spaces without any justification were detected, putting the common health at risk», announces the Portimão City Council.

This is the most recent measure adopted by local authorities, to "reinforce the current campaign to raise awareness among citizens of the seriousness of the Covid-19 pandemic, whose preventive effectiveness involves self-isolation at home."

As a warning, the siren will be activated “when situations of too many people on the streets are reported, in clear disobedience to the quarantine in force, and should be understood as an express indication to collect the house”.

In addition to this initiative that will "mark the sound of this block in Portimão", "firefighters' vehicles will also be used, which will circulate in the streets with sound messages asking people to stay at home, avoiding unnecessary exits that could endanger their lives and family members'.

Finally, on Avenida Tomás Cabreira, in Praia da Rocha, and in the Riverside Zone of Portimão, the loudspeakers of the Tsunami Alert Sirens will be used, «to pass recorded messages, in bilingual (Portuguese, English), asking people to stay at home».
