Museums of Faro go to their public's homes in time of pandemic

Municipal Museum of Faro and the Regional Museum created a program with "digital initiatives aimed at the whole family"

The doors of Faro museums may even be closed, but that does not mean that the Municipal Museum of Faro (MMF) and the Regional Museum do not continue to serve their audience, with proposals for cultural and educational content for different age groups.

The two cultural structures are still "active and promoting their cultural heritage", having set up a program with "digital initiatives aimed at the whole family, in which the motto is to enter each one's home" which can be followed in the MMF Facebook page, according to the Chamber of Faro.

One of these proposals is the Quiz, «which proposes a series of questions to test the whole family's knowledge about curiosities or pieces from the municipal museum spaces. The educational services will also promote the presentation of stories, which recall traditions and memories of other times, thus resuming the activities of the school program that the little ones are used to following in person at the Museum».

Another challenge that was launched is the project “A casa é o atelier”, “in which the whole family is invited to participate with their artistic vein, producing, in these more homely days, their painting works of art on this extraordinary height of our lives'. The drawings or paintings must then be sent to the Facebook or to Muse emailu, «which may later be exhibited in municipal museum spaces».

It will also be possible to take guided tours, virtually, in an initiative called “Two fingers of conversation”, which will feature a quick presentation of some of the main pieces of the Museum. The restoration team, which is taking care of some pieces, will, in turn, give «its testimony regarding the improvements of this museological heritage».

«With these initiatives, and now in a more digital aspect, the Municipal Museum and the Regional Museum continue to present cultural contents, far from their buildings, but close to their audience», concluded the City Council. Faro.
