Turismo do Algarve launches campaign to inform SMEs about extraordinary support measures

"Yesterday, like today, we are here to help!"

The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) and the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) activated this Wednesday, the 18th, a campaign to publicize and clarify the support measures of the Government and Tourism of Portugal with companies in the Algarve tourism sector, in particular Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), motivated by the economic problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Yesterday, like today, we are here to help!" it's the claim the bilingual campaign, in Portuguese and English, which encourages entrepreneurs to contact the RTA Entrepreneur Support Office to better understand the package of measures announced to mitigate the economic consequences of the new coronavirus in Portugal.

Tourist companies are provided with telephone and email contacts, with a team of associated professionals, so that they can obtain personalized information on credit lines, flexible measures in tax and contributory matters, extraordinary labor legislation and acceleration of payment of PT 2020 incentives.

Interested parties can also download the “Guide to Measures to Support Companies”, an information bulletin that summarizes the most recent and constantly updated information.

For the president of Turismo do Algarve, «helping companies in the tourism sector in the Algarve is a priority. They are the ones that generate wealth and employment in the region. In this arduous period ahead, we are all aware of the special vulnerability of a region that depends on tourism and in which seasonality is an additional factor of adversity».

«We will do everything to respond to the needs of companies and workers in the sector», guarantees João Fernandes.

The campaign was conceived internally by the Algarve Tourism team and runs on RTA and ATA's own channels, on social networks and on the internet.

Interestingly, the campaign was launched on the same day that the Algarve Tourism Region marked the 50th anniversary of its creation. But the pandemic situation did not allow for any celebration.
