PCP: There are 15 thousand users in Loulé without a family doctor

Communists questioned the Ministry of Health

The PCP is concerned about the lack of family doctors in the municipality of Loulé. According to the communists, who have already questioned the Minister of Health on this and other issues related to the NHS in the municipality of Loulé, there are more than 15 thousand users without an assigned clinic.

The communists met, on February 17th, with Sívia Cabrita, executive director of ACES Central, and with Filipe Figueiredo, member of the clinical and health council of this grouping. At that meeting, according to the PCP, "several problems were identified, namely the serious shortage of doctors in some units of this health center, as well as the lack of operational assistants, the lack of adequate facilities and the lack of vehicles to provide care and home consultations'.

The PCP emphasizes that, with regard to the lack of family doctors, "in the last competition none of the vacancies that were opened were occupied, thus leaving a total of 15.100 users without a family doctor".

According to the communist parliamentary group, at the UCSP in Almancil/Boliqueime there are 8100 users without a family doctor, while at the UCSP in Quarteira there are 4550 and in the UCSP in Loulé, which covers the mountainous region, there are 2500 users without an assigned doctor.

As for the operational assistants, according to the PCP “six operational assistants are missing in this Health Center. And those who are placed are mostly through the hiring of cleaning companies, which, in our opinion, is not the best solution for ensure the quality of the service provided, since, on the one hand, the functional content of the operational assistant in the health sector is not limited to the mere cleaning of the facilities, on the other hand, they are permanent jobs to which employment contracts must correspond. effective'.

The communists were also alerted to the «existence of several problems of contractual non-compliance by companies with their workers, as well as the non-replacement of workers in their absences/discharges».

For the PCP, "it is therefore imperative that the hiring of Operational Assistants respond to permanent needs and that, in addition to cleaning the premises, they also ensure the remaining and relevant competences/functions corresponding to the functional content of their career/function".

Regarding the use of vehicles in the provision of care and consultations at home, «despite the fact that the Government has identified the lack of vehicles in this Health Centre, the situation of shortage remains as it was two years ago, at our last meeting, noting that many home consultations are still not carried out as necessary'.

The PCP also emphasizes that the facilities of UCSP in Almancil «continue not to meet the needs of professionals, since the “space” considered as a “room” for meals and rest for professionals continues to be a stairwell. The works foreseen in this unit have not yet advanced, so the situation of lack of conditions for breaks and meals for professionals remains, many of them in continuous working hours».

The communists recall that “in 2018, the Government informed us that the construction of a new building for the USF Lauroé would be completed during the year 2019. forget that this USF has been installed in containers “provisionally” for about 10 years, that is, since 2010».
