Covid-19 forces Alcoutim to cancel Festival do Contraband

The decision has just been announced by the municipality

The Festival of Contraband, which was scheduled for the 27th, 28th and 29th of March, in Alcoutim, was canceled due to the Covid-19 outbreak. 

The decision has just been announced by the municipality.

This would be the fourth edition of the Festival do Contraband, an event that would bring thousands of people to Alcoutim. The pedestrian bridge, which would link the Algarve to Sanlucar do Guadiana, in Spain, was one of the great attractions.

Following the directives of the General Directorate of Health, with regard to COVID-19, this is a preventive measure, as the Municipality recognizes "the strong probability of a possible risk of contagion and consequent risk to public health", because a significant number of visitors of different nationalities.

The executive “regrets” the need for this decision-making, asking for “the understanding of all”.

The Doces D'Avó Fair, scheduled for the 10th and 11th of April, was also cancelled.
